Things have certainly evolved.  What I knew as “death metal” growing up, is not what people call death metal now-a-days.  Same thing with “screamo”…but that’s a tired argument.  I think my friend Justin at one time had a long write-up on what true screamo was, and why you suck if you think Hawthorne Heights is legit.

Things deff evolve, there’s no question about that.  But I think that the sounds are the same, but the monikers for these new sounds, or sub-genres, are total misnomers.
